The nights are drawing in and what better way to brighten up
your evening than with a bit of LED embroidery.
Becky Stern’s fab designs actually use conductive thread to light up LED bulbs sewn into the fabric –
genius or what?
Before you start worrying about trekking down to your local DIY
store to rummage around for items more commonly found in your tool box than
your sewing box fear not – everything you need to create your own LED design
can be bought from her website in the form of a handy little kit delivered
straight to your door.
And if like myself you’re the kind of person who
couldn’t wire a circuit board in GCSE science without suffering mild electric
shock, you'll be pleased to hear that her website offers a step-by-step tutorial on exactly how to
successfully wire your designs using the materials found in your pack. Simple.
a choice of red, green, blue or yellow bulbs, this is the perfect way to liven
up anything from Christmas cards to t-shirts.
Just make sure you remove the
battery before putting them through the wash!
For the next few weeks, we've got Gabrielle Acosta joining us in the CrossStitcher office on work
She's just finished her degree in English at Birmingham University so we thought we'd give her the fun task of
finding us something fresh and funky to review on our blog.
This was what she came up with... pretty cool huh?
