Get your hands on free Twitter patterns

Who wants a free pattern? Those of you on Twitter should look at following Jacinta Lodge, aka @stitchalicious. As well as being an amazing textile and embroidery artist, she is also generous enough to tweet free patterns to her followers every Tuesday.

“I’m based in Germany so I’m in a weird time zone for most tweeting stitchers, who need to be US-based, and I miss out on a lot of the interactive stitchy fun,” she tells us. “This is my way of trying to redress that. Plus, I wanted to see if there was something more that could be done with stitching and Twitter than just telling people ‘working on XYZ right now!’”

She struck upon the idea of designing and sharing cross stitched social media icons after trying to think of ways she could add stitchy details to her personal website. “I though it’d be cool to have stitched buttons on my site, but couldn’t find any, so I just made them myself!” she laughs. “I still have a pretty big list of ones I need to do, but any stitchers who have a specific wish are welcome to contact me and request one.”

Get involved with the stitch-a-long at 8pm BST every Tuesday by following the hashtag #tweetXS. Jacinta will tell you what characters she is using to represent which threads – e.g. O for DMC 3842 – and will tweet the pattern line by line.

Jacinta also designs and sells graffiti cross stitch and amazing 3D embroidery – check out her Etsy shop and her personal website.
