Like everyone, the Cross Stitcher team like nothing better to cheer up a long day than to treat themselves with a nice bar of chocolate. My willpower is quite good and I usually manage to resist tagging along, but yesterday I felt myself caving in...
This got me thinking - cross stitch is actually a great way to lose weight:
1. I'm not the world's tidiest person, so having food around when I'm stitching is an automatic no-no – this means temptation is automatically out of reach!
2. Even if you do cave in and start thinking about treating yourself you never want to leave your stitching in the middle of a row or lose your place - keep going for long enough and you'll become so absorbed in your stitching again that you'll forget all about food!
3. I recently read you could burn about 100 calories just from 90 minutes typing - surely it's the same with stitching????
So next time I feel like giving in to temptation, I may just pick up my needle. I'd love to hear if you know any more cross stitch slimming techniques - after all, even if it deosn't make us any healthier we'll enjoy the stitching!
Let me know what you think,
Sally, production editor
